Move-In & First-Time Setup

Section: Welcome to Grata!Category: Overview1 min readOverview
Move-in setup is how you connect to your building in Grata: receive your welcome email, install the Grata app, sign in with the contact information your property has on file, and confirm your building and unit look correct. This is your start here guide if you are new to a Grata building. The features that appear after setup depend on what your property has enabled.

What you can do

The usual order of setup

When you are new to Grata, this order usually makes sense:
  1. Receiving Your Welcome Email — Your property sends this to the email or phone number in their records. It contains your invite link. If you did not receive it, check spam or contact your building first.
  2. Download and Install the Grata App — Install the Grata app from the App Store or Google Play. Search for "Grata Smart Living" — not the blue Grata app.
  3. First-Time Resident Setup — Follow the setup flow triggered by your invite link to connect your account to your building and unit.
  4. Sign In to the Grata App — Sign in using the phone number or email your property has on file. If Grata does not recognise your information, your property may need to update your resident record first.
  5. Explore your available features — After setup, confirm your building and unit look correct, then explore Digital Key, Manage Access, and other features your property has enabled.

Details and helpful notes

Details and helpful notes

Varies by building: Which features appear after setup — access, amenities, requests, building notices, smart home devices, and more. The setup process is the same, but the feature set varies by property.
Good to know: Use the Grata app, not the blue Grata app. Your invite is tied to a specific contact (phone or email) — use the same contact your building has on file. If another resident's invite was used by mistake, contact your building team.
Contact your building or support@grata.life when: You did not receive a welcome email; your building or unit looks wrong after completing setup; or setup asks for information you do not have.
