Details and helpful notes

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why did I receive a leak alert? A: Your building has a water or moisture sensor that detected elevated moisture levels in or near your unit or a shared space. The alert is triggered automatically when the sensor reading exceeds the configured threshold. It does not always mean there is visible flooding — sensors can pick up minor leaks or condensation early.
Q: What should I do first? A: Check the area the alert identifies — under sinks, near appliances, around windows, or in the indicated room. If you find active water, turn off the water supply to that fixture if you can do so safely, place towels to limit spread, and contact building maintenance immediately. Do not wait to submit an in-app request if the situation is urgent.
Q: What if I do not see water? A: Do not dismiss the alert. Sensors detect moisture before a visible puddle forms. Check thoroughly — behind appliances, under cabinets, inside sink vanities. If you genuinely cannot find a source, notify your building team anyway so they can inspect the sensor location.
Q: What if the leak appears to be from another unit or a common area? A: Contact building maintenance directly — this is beyond what you can address yourself. Do not attempt to access another resident's unit. Your building team can investigate shared plumbing stacks, roof or balcony drainage, and common-area pipes.
Q: Can I move or unplug a leak sensor? A: No — sensors are installed and managed by your building team. Do not relocate or disconnect them. If a sensor appears damaged or misplaced, let your building team know.
Q: Will property management be notified automatically? A: Whether your building team receives automatic alerts depends on how your building has configured leak detection. Do not assume they already know — always notify maintenance directly when you receive an alert, especially if water is present.
Q: What if the alert looks wrong or is for the wrong location? A: Report it to your building team. The sensor label in the app reflects how the building set it up. If the location name does not match the physical space, or if you received an alert for a unit or area that is not yours, let maintenance know so they can review the sensor configuration.
Q: What if the sensor keeps alerting after I have checked? A: Ongoing or repeated alerts for the same area are a sign of a persistent moisture issue — hidden pipe leak, roof drainage problem, or condensation from an appliance. Contact building maintenance and describe the frequency and location. Do not ignore repeat alerts.
